Supporting your wholeness
and potential

About me

I have a B.A. (Joint Hons) in Psychology and Education, a Diploma in Social Work and a Post Qualifying Certificate in Social Work. I was awarded a Diploma in Aromatherapy, a Certificate in Indian Head Massage and Hands Free Massage. I am an accredited Mindfulness teacher, trainer. I am certified as an Hakomi Practitioner with the Hakomi Education Network. I am a Reiki Master Teacher and a member of the Reiki Federation.

I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Body Psychotherapy Network. I am registered with the Therapy Directory and my profile can be found at any of these places. I have always been passionate about helping people to understand themselves and others more thoroughly. I am committed to supporting those I work with to learn, grow and navigate the challenges in their lives. Sometimes all we need is a safe, caring space to pause and take stock.  The work I have done over the past 40 years, is based upon a heart-felt wish to alleviate unnecessary suffering for myself and others. I  enjoy supporting the wholeness and potential I see in those around me.  I have been fortunate to have others do this for me.

I know that life is not always easy. People don't always get what they need when they're young. Any sense of loss or disruption experienced early on, can mean finding it harder to feel safe and connected with ourselves and others. This can show up as communication and relationship difficulties which prevent us from giving from our best and getting our needs met.

Difficult things happen to everyone.  I can help people with a number of demands.  These include problems at work, relationship issues, work-related difficulties, financial worries, bereavement, loss and a troubling relationship with food.

I will support you to become aware of the unconscious habits and patterns that drive unhelpful feelings and behaviours. Reasons for the loss and uneasiness you might feel can be uncovered and their effects reduced. You may enjoy improved sleep as the tension associated with difficult feelings is reduced.  You might find you communicate from a place of self-empathy and understanding, which will support your relationships.  Together, this may give you a greater sense of wholeness and of being more comfortable in your own skin.

Frustration, trauma and a sense of loss don't have to be the whole story and they don't have to last a life-time.

My own journey

I have gained a sense of reward and satisfaction from supporting others to achieve their aspirations.

I worked as a Social Worker, Probation Officer and Child Protection Officer for 12 years.  I completed many hours of voluntary work and several years as a listener for The Samaritans. I  helped many people struggling to make sense of their lives and the disadvantages they faced.

I was then drawn to re-train in complementary health studying and qualifying in Aromatherapy, massage and Reiki Healing.  I practised privately and ran workshops and training for a number of years, including teaching in an adult education setting. I supported patients from a local cancer care hospital, participating in ward-round meetings, as part of the health team.

I have been involved in the world of Hakomi Body Centred Psychotherapy since 2015. I have been a practising Buddhist for twenty-two years, which involves having a personal meditation practice and attending retreats. I am also known by the name Atapini, as in 2007 I was Ordained into an International Buddhist Community.

Hakomi’s roots in Buddhism and Daoism fit well with my values and principles.  I have had six years of experiential training with a number of Hakomi teachers and trainers.  I am certified as a practitioner.  I have a particular interest in developmental trauma and have attended training and groups to increase my skills and understanding in the field. I am also interested in the effects of living with disability on all areas of a person’s life.

I hold a Focusing Practitioner Certificate and continue to practice this form of inquiry as a means to develop even greater personal awareness and integration. I have completed a "Circles Course" and am Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed.

I continue to attend post-qualifying training, coaching, peer support groups and supervision.  I will be facilitating Hakomi workshops from Autumn 2021. Continued learning is important to me. I want to give of my best. I consider self exploration and study an essential part of this process.

My sessions with Caroline have helped me uncover long-held beliefs that have got in the way of me leading a more satisfying life. Her calmness, compassion and the way she senses what is needed, enables me to feel safe and open to exploring whatever comes up. I always feel completely accepted and compassionately held in the safe space she creates.  If you are open and curious to work with all aspects of your self - physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual - I would wholeheartedly recommend the Hakomi method and Caroline as a practitioner. She has a huge amount of integrity, life experience and skill.  I feel she is with me every step of my journey to self acceptance, helping me to recognize my strengths and resources and to discover what is even more possible.
